getting photos uploaded.
Dogs must be validated to participate in
the Texas 4-H Dog Show on July 7-9, 2017 in Belton, Texas at the Bell County
Expo.
There are also flyers attached involving
opportunities for members to get some practice.

Texas 4-H Roundup Theme!! "Dream On"
Texas 4-H Roundup is six months away. Mark your calendars, if you have not done so already, for June 5-8, 2017. Also, bookmark http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/events/roundup/ to find all information related to Roundup.
The 2016-2017 Texas 4-H Council has set this year’s theme for Roundup which is “Dream On”. Many of our Districts have already hosted qualifying events this year and you may have seen the “My Dream Came True” signs that our qualifying members are receiving. We encourage the members to post on social media using hashtags #Texas4H and #4HDream which is this year’s Roundup specific hashtag. We are currently downloading images as we find them and plan to use them in Roundup digital marketing pieces in the near future.
4-H day at the Capital
The Texas 4-H Youth Development Program will once again host 4-H Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. This event is designed as a citizenship experience for 4-H members of all ages to learn more about the state legislative process, as well as meet their state representative and senator through an office visit.
Because this event is held during the legislative session and other organizations/groups are at the capitol on the same day, the number of participants (youth and adults) must be limited. The event will open for registrations on January 9, 2017 at 12 noon and will remain open until January 27, 2017 or until the event is filled. (In 2015, the event did fill up within the first 24 hours of being open). 4-H Day at the Capitol is open to the first 250 youth and 50 adults registering for the event.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
4-H CONNECT Registration will open at 12 noon on JANUARY 9, 2017 and close JANUARY 27, 2017
Cost per participant: $30.00 (includes lunch and t-shirt)
EVENT DETAILS
Date: Wednesday, February 8, 2017 (Estimated Start Time: 8:30 am and Estimated Finish Time: 4:00 pm)
Event limited to the first 250 youth/50 adult (registration is non-refundable or transferable!)
Other facts about the day that you should consider before registering:
- This event does occur during the legislative session, therefore, the event schedule may change from what is published and even distributed the day of the event. Changes to the overall schedule as well as House and Senate member visits will be occurring throughout the day and the 4-H Program will do our best to maintain the most up-to-date schedule changes through email and text messaging.
- We request patience of all our 4-H members, parents, and County Extension Agents during the event due to the fast pace of the event. This includes not just schedule changes, but cancellation of office visits or locations of visits.
- For those parents who do not get registered for the event, but their 4-H member did, they are welcome to attend and join in on the gallery and office visits, but due to space, the welcome assembly in the auditorium and the lunch will be limited to only registered individuals. The capitol does have a cafeteria located close to the room where the event lunch will be served.
- 4-H members attending the event maybe separated from their parents for periods of time when they are in the welcoming assembly or on office visits, please be assured it is the priority of the 4-H Program that each youth member is safe and comfortable in their participation of the event at all times.
- Each registered participant will receive a long-sleeved t-shirt, therefore the dress is casual-nice (pressed blue jeans or khaki pants/skirt, casual shoes - not tennis shoes). The t-shirt will be distributed at check-in and youth will have time to change prior to the event starting.
- A detailed information packet will be sent to each registered participant approximately a week before the event with an updated schedule, parking information and other logistical information.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Texas 4-H Youth Development Program Office at 979-845-1212 or email Dr. Toby Lepley at t-lepley@tamu.edu.

2017 Texas 4-H Photography Contest
Theme: For 2017 the theme is “Reflections”. These are photos shot off any natural or artificial reflective surface. A well-excited shot will be able to show perfect symmetry or a slightly distorted shot. Examples of photographs in the theme would be, but not limited to, photos from lakes, a window pane, a mirror, or a polished/wax car. 4-H members are encouraged to be creative when thinking about reflections in everyday life and where they are seen.
Changes to rules for 2017. Photos must be 8X10 in size with a quality resolution. Over the past two years the majority of disqualification in the contest have occurred when the photography is too small to be viewed by the judge when downloaded from 4-H CONNECT.
Additionally, please remember that all photos must be the original work of the 4-H member submitting the photograph. No photograph can be submitted which has been taken by other 4-H members, a family member, or any printed/digital source. All photos will be scanned through a reverse image search.
Entry Period: April 1, 2017 to April 15, 2017 through 4-H CONNECT. Rules can be found online http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/projects/photography-video/
