The 4-H Textile project led by Pandora Bonner of Kaufman is learning new sewing ideas with material not normally worked with in the textile project and then how to market their ideas. The 4-H'ers are learning to sew bags and totes from plastic feed sacks that are collected from local supporters. Then the 4-H'ers design a bag using the logos from the feed sack to make handy re-usable items.
The youth learn alot about choosing their materials, cutting them to a free hand design, putting in a zipper, to finding ways to market them to raise money for their textile project.
Picture 1 - Kaitlyn Lumpkin, Chloe Costello and Project Leader Laurie Celella learn how to set the tension on the sewing machine for different types of materials.
Picture 2 - Senior 4-H'ers Caroline Costello and Cassie Boyd help cut designs and start the sewing process for the younger 4-H'ers.
