Helping out the Historic Kaufman County Poor Farm

Stan Kapp, Vice Chair of the Poor Farm Committee has set Sat. April 27th as a work day at the Poor Farm.  They are in the process of cleaning up the grounds and clearing and trimming brush.  The weather has blown over trees and limbs that need to be cleared.
Stan is asking for volunteers to help get this accomplished.  He is planning to schedule work on every Saturday in an effort to have a large part accomplished by the May 11th dedication ceremonies.  Volunteers should wear work clothes, heavy shoes, and bring gloves and any landscape equipment you may have, like chain saws, weed eaters, pruning shears, etc.   Hopefully, some county equipment will be available also.

For information, please contact Stan Kapp-469-595-6980; e-mail skapp65@yahoo.com,

Record Book Time!!!

It is record book time!!! The County Fair is done.... District Roundup is around the corner and we all should have been keeping track of our activities through the year.

Information about the 4-H Record Books can be found on the Record Books & Record Keeping website.  The group of specialists (mothers and leaders experienced in working with this process) have highly suggested in using the word documents for the document for ease of use and the "pretty" look.  Record Keeping is a great life skill to learn and acquire for our young people to learn for when we send them down the highway of life.

We will be hosting two workshops to help everyone get started.  They will be April, Sunday 14th, 2-4 pm and April, Sunday 28th, 2-4 at the Extension Office Meeting room.  The record books are an important part for the awards process.

If you have any questions please contact the 4-H County Extension Office at 972.932.9069 or email the 4-H Agent Carrie Sharp at cl-sharp@tamu.edu.
