Get Your Imagination Going!!! Start a Story Board for the Clothing & Textile Project

Kaufman County 4-H Fashion Story Board Contest

Important Information Details:
1. County Fashion Story Board—Due March 20th to the Extension Office
(Notify Jackie at time of drop off if the entry is to be doubled entered into the county fair.)
2. County Fashion Story Board Displayed—March 21st

3. District Story Board online entry Deadline on 4H Connect—April 5th

4.  Unless changes are needed…. District entries will be kept to be forwarded onto the district competition on May 1st.

Getting Started...

Focus.... Ask these simple questions to help start planning your board.
1. Who would you market this design to?
2. What Age?
3. What are their likes and interests?
4. How much would they (or their parents) be willing to spend?
5. How would you promote this product?

Creating an Original Design....

Where did you get the idea for your design?       What was your inspiration? 

What makes your design different from others on the market?

Think about the design elements and principles used in the design. (Look to the guidelines hand out for these principles.) How do you use those elements and principles to enhance the design? What is your marketing plan?

Basic Materials List...

o Mat board or foam core (Approximately 20" x 30" )
o Use magazine, Internet, or similar sources to obtain photos
o Resize these photos as needed with a photocopy machine or computer for better layout.
o They must be neat and creatively cut and presented.
o 3-D mounting is good.
o  Lettering—Make sure that the font/text goes well with the layout and is an appropriate size.
o Transferable lettering, hand lettering is not recommended.
o Check spelling.     o Check alignment.
o Support Materials  - e Scissors and pinking shears for cutting paper and fabric swatches e Various adhesives e Rubber cement—Rubber cement pick-up e  Removable adhesive glue stick e Remount repositionable adhesive e Adhesive transfer tape e Drawing pencils – used for a variety of sketching purposes; for both preliminary and finishing techniques, pencils are available in a variety of leads. e Decorative papers in various colors and textures and fabric swatches *This is a general list of supplies. Be sure to test the products before using them on your final product.
