Kaufman County 4-H Swine Project show their stuff at the Fort Worth Junior Swine Show

Kaufman County 4-H Swine Project members Jacob and Jordan Reznicek showed off their hard work at the Fort Worth Junior Breeding Swine Show.

Jacob competed with his Yorkshire which he placed 6th (pictured top with his dad Brian Reznicek) and his two Berkshire gilts that received a 6th and an 8th.

Jordan exhibited his two Duroc gilts and received a 2nd and a 6th (pictured below with Jacob his brother helping show).

Kaufman County 4-H’ers Exhibit at the Fort Worth Junior Heifer Show

Kaufman County Hooves and Horn 4-H Beef Club members did very well the first week of the Fort Worth Livestock Show. Kaufman County 4-H had 13 exhibitors competing in the Fort Worth Livestock Show competing in the Junior Heifer Show.

In the Junior Shorthorn Heifer Show, Hailey Hawes of Crandall placed 1st with her September 2008 Junior Heifer. Justin Jenkins also of Crandall placed 2nd with his July 2008 heifer.

In the Junior Angus Heifer Show, Clarrisa Perez (pictured) of Forney placed 5th with her January Jr Heifer Calf, Bailey Buchanan of Crandall placed 4th with her May 2008 Yearling Heifer, Micah Stahlman of Kaufman placed 10th with her Early Senior Heifer Calf and Hannah Stahlman of Kaufman placed 4th with her Late Senior Heifer Calf.

In the Junior Maine Anjou Heifer show, Brock Rademacher of Mabank placed 5th with his August of 2009 Heifer Calf and Brogan Rademacher placed 10th with her March of 2009 heifer.

In the Junior Polled Hereford Heifer show, Brooke Jones of Wills Point placed 2nd with her January 2009 Heifer and Brooke Adams of Wills Point placed 1st with her yearling Heifer.

In the Junior Hereford Heifer show, Klee Walker of the Terrell, placed 2nd with his March 2009 Heifer Calf and Micheal Hawes (pictured) of Crandall was the Senior Heifer Calf Division Reserve Champion.

In the Junior Charolais Heifer show, Taylor Rademacher from Mabank was 4th with her April Jr Yearling Heifer.

Junior Horse Judging Team Competes at the Johnson Co Open Invitational

The Kaufman County 4-H Horse Judging team competed against 27 other Intermediate teams at the Johnson County Junior Open Invitational in Alvarado, Texas. Hannah and Abby Celella, Marly St Clair, Kaitlyn Lumpkin, Kaitlyn Pagel and TJ Graham made up the two teams. With Hannah and Abby Celella, and Marly St Clair placing 14th overall and first in the halter division. And Kaitlyn Lumpkin, Kaitlyn Pagel and TJ Graham placed 17th.
For the Individual placings - Abby Celella placed 10th overall and Marly St Clair was third overall in the intermediate division. The next contest for the junior team will be at the San Antonio Livestock Exposition.

District IV 4-H Lock In a BIG success!!

176 4-H'ers from across the 22 county area converged on Crazy Jakes in Plano for a leadership LockIn. The nights activities included leadership workshops, rock climbing, teamwork activities and paint ball, plus all the other fun activities Crazy Jakes had to offer.
The 4-H members also made a memory quilt with old 4-H camp t-shirts. Council Officers Catlyn Wold and Kelvin Word attended the Lock In for the County Council in Kaufman County, with County Extension Agent for 4-H and Youth Development Carrie Sharp and Renee Word, Program Assistant for 4-H in the Classroom acting as chaperons.

8th Annual Working Cowhorse Clinic a Big Success

32 youth and adults participated in the 8th Annual Working Cow Horse in Athens Texas. Matt McMillian from Sam Houston State University and his Horsemanship Instructor Team did a great job working with the participants.
Participants learned how to work a cow, how to use a "flag" to help train their horses to follow a cow and also basic reining maneuvers.
Participants came all across the northeast Texas area from Denton County to Rains down to Houston County.
