Council Meeting
The next 4-H Council Meeting will be held Tuesday, May 18th,
at the Kaufman County Extension Office at 6:30 pm. This will be Nomination
Night for the elections for the 2020-2021 Council Officers. So it will be really important that each club
is represented. If you are unsure who
your reps are please contact Carrie at the extension office.
Elections will be June 13th at 1 PM.
Record Books – Deadline June 11th
Project
Record are due June 11th to the County Extension office. Information and help guides can be found
on: http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/recordbooks/
For
record books to be considered for district competition they need to be turned
in by the Deadline.

Camps, Clinics, Workshops
Multi County Camp – July 5-7
Planning for the Multi County Camp in Lone Star, Texas is
once again started. This year a full
three days of fun are centered on the Theme – “Explore
4-H.” Come have fun with 4-H’ers
from 6 other District IV counties.
4-H’ers from 8 yrs and in 3rd Grade to 18 Yrs old has fun at
the Lake front camp. Registration is $120.00 for 3 days and 2 nights of fun and
activities. (Registration is Due May 31st.)
District ULTRA Leadership Camp 2021 – July 12-14th
This year’s District Leadership Camp will be held on July 12-14th,
at Lakeview Baptist Church Camp, Lone Star Texas. It will be 2.5 days of fun and excitement!!
Hold these dates and look for more information to come!!! Deadline to register
is June 7th on 4H Connect.
Texas Farm Bureau Youth Success Series
Texas youth can expect the
best in life by holding themselves to the highest standards, and Texas Farm
Bureau can help students travel the road of excellence.
Through our new Student
Success Series, students in 8th through 12th grade can learn more about
leadership, networking and personal professionalism this summer.
There are four experiences for students to participate in:
- Jumpstart: Virtual event
for 8th grade students
- Activate: Virtual
event for 9th grade students
- Engage: In-person
district meetings for 10th grade students
- Thrive: Virtual event for 11th and 12th
grade students
We are working on dates to
host at the County Extension Office in June BUT you HAVE to get signed up May

Kaufman Co 4-H Horse Club Hosts
TAMU Horsemanship – June 10-11th
If you and your
horse want to improve your team work then the TAMU Horsemanship clinic is GREAT
for you!! The clinic will be held at the
Legends Horse Ranch in Kaufman. The Two
day clinic is full of opportunities to work on areas to improve your
horsemanship. The cost for the 2 days is
ONLY $150 and that includes 2 lunches and snack breaks. For more information
contact Carrie Sharp cl-sharp@tamu.edu she will put you in touch with the horse
club leaders Amy Wolfe or Dianne Hiser.
2021 State Fair
of Texas Lamb/Goat Validation
If you bought a tag
for the State Fair Market Goat and Lamb shows we will be tagging on June 22nd at the
Mabank FFA Barn starting at 5 pm and June 29th at the Kaufman County at 3 pm.
ALSO - The State Fair of Texas is requiring validation for registered breeding
sheep, registered breeding goats, wether/commercial dams, and wether/commercial
does.

2021 Fall Show Heifer Validation
Fall Show Heifer Validation is for any fall
junior heifer shows. We will be validating on June 22nd
at the Mabank FFA Barn at 5 p.m.
and June 29th
at the County Fair Grounds at 3 pm.
THE 29th VALIDATION ARE FOR HALTER BROKE HEIFERS ONLY!! IF YOUR HEIFER IS NOT HALTER BROKE BRING THEM TO THE JUNE 22nd at Mabank FFA or the 24TH STEER VALIDATION AT RISINGER VET CLINIC.
We are verifying ownership, registration
paper upload and physical validation. A $15.00 per heifer fee will be
collected. PLEASE DO NOT UNLOAD YOUR HEIFERS TILL DIRECTED.
** Heifers validated last fall or summer will not need to be
validated unless there has been a change in breed or ownership. **
***YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE YOUR PAPERS IN YOUR NAME AND HEIFER
AT THE VERIFICATION DATE. Make sure your heifer is tattooed and the tattoo is
correct matching the papers. If it is not, we will not validate your heifer.

2021 State Fair
of Texas Breeding Sheep and Breeding Goat Validation – NEW!!
The State Fair of Texas is requiring validation for registered breeding sheep, registered breeding goats, wether/commercial dams, and wether/commercial does..
The Texas Lamb and Goat Validation of Texas is pleased to announce the introduction of the Roll-over Breeding Sheep and Breeding Goat program.
Who does this impact? Registered breeding sheep, registered breeding goats, wether/commercial dams, and wether/commercial does ONLY
Who does this NOT impact? Market lambs and market goats
What does this mean? Beginning June 1, 2021, registered breeding sheep, registered breeding goats, wether/commercial dams, and wether/commercial does will have 3 total years of eligibility UNLESS A CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP TAKES PLACE. This will be offered during major show validation as well. Put plainly- if you validate for State Fair during the June 2021 validation period, your validation will be eligible until June 2024, unless a change of ownership occurs during that time- then you must re-validate. If you validate during the October 2021 validation period for major shows, your validation will be eligible until October 2024, unless a change of ownership occurs during that time- then you must re-validate.

Major Shows in October! This has NOT changed!
The District IV 4-H
Horse Show will be held Thursday, June 17th at the Sulphur Springs, TX. Grounds will be open at 3-9 pm on Wednesday,
June 16th, for early arrival and early check-in with registration. All entries for the District IV 4-H Horse
Show will be done on 4-H Connect. 4-H
Connect will be open starting on May 10th, and closes at midnight on Friday,
May 25th NO LATE
ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED NO EXCEPTIONS. The entry sheet is only a tool for
the contestants and parents to work from before going on 4-H Connect. It is not a valid means of entry and will not
be accepted.
State Horse Show Rules and Regulations
The 2021 State 4-H Horse Show rules and regulations are

the Extension office.
2021 State Fair of Texas Market Poultry Show
If you are interested in showing broilers at the 2021 State
Fair of Texas your orders need to be turned into the Extension office by
Monday, June 28th.
2021 State Fair of Texas Creative Arts Competition
The State Fair offers more than 1,100 categories in 12 departments to be entered and judged before the fair begins on September 28th. The Fair also offers 24 daily contests during the annual exposition.

After judging, all exhibitors will be notified of their

come lots of opportunities to showcase 4-H.
