Reminder - Youth Reining Clinic
The annual Texas State Youth Reining Horse Clinic will be held at the Somervell County Expo Center in Glen Rose, TX on March 26-27, 2011. Youth attending must be a bonafide 4-H member and bring a horse they want to improve in executing all basic maneuvers. The horse does not have to be a reiner. If under 18, members must provide their own parental or volunteer supervision. Topics will include lateral flexion and forward momentum, circles, spins, stops, rollbacks, and lead changes. All participants will receive ―hands-on practice and assistance throughout the clinic. This clinic will be hosted by the Texas State Youth Equestrian Foundation. TQHA Announces New Scholarship Award Program
Could you be the next "Face of TQHYA?" Launching February 17, "Face of TQYHA" is a scholarship contest open to current or new members of theTexas Quarter Horse Youth Association. Contestants are to submit a 30 second to one minute video describing what the "Face of TQHYA" should look like, i.e. service to the Texas Horse industry, mentoring other
youth at school or horse shows, responsibility with the family race horse or ranching business, etc. BE CREATIVE! First prize is a $2500 scholarship and second place is a $1,000 scholarship. Honorable mention awards will also be given. The contest runs through May 1, 2011. Email your video to youth@tqha.com along with your name, address and contact number.
Judges will select the top 5 videos from videos submitted. The top 5 videos will be posted on the TQHA website and TQHA FaceBook pages where the public can vote on who will be the "Face of TQHYA."
Not only will the winner receive a $2,500 college scholarship, thewinning contestant's video will also be re-shot by a professional production company and featured in all TQHA media and TQHYA promotionfor one full year.
