Scholarship Training Recorded and Online

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION- great for next years seniors to get a head start on preparation!! If you missed any of the four in-person trainings that were offered in the last week, or the statewide online training held last night, there is an opportunity to catch up on this year's requirements for the 4-H opportunity scholarships (there are a few changes to note).  See the details below on how to view the recording.

One item that I would like to stress is to have your graduating seniors complete their FAFSA application BEFORE December 31 using this past year's tax returns.  For our scholarship purposes, do not let your families wait until after that point or else the FAFSA system will require them to use their 2011 tax returns.  (They will need to do the FAFSA again in the spring for financial aid/scholarship consideration at their college/university.)  This process allows us to more uniformly determine a student's financial need.

Be sure look at the SALE Rural Youth and TEEA scholarships.  Those are linked on the 4-H website here:  http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/youth/scholarships/index_youth_scholarships.php

The State Fair's scholarship program is separate from our Foundation scholarship program, so students will need to complete their application that is found here:  link

If you have any questions about the scholarship program/application, please let me know.  As you start to work on the applications, please note that there are new spaces for everyone to initial (bottom of each page), a new signature page, etc.

Applications are due to the county extension office by February 3, 2012.
